Zonal Flow = Active Pattern
Hello and happy Wednesday everyone, hope you’re enjoying you’re week so far. The weather continues to remain active across the nation as a “Zonal Flow” sets up bringing in waves of energy from the Pacific. Zonal flow means that the strong upper level winds are running from west to east in a linear pattern, which tends to keep temperatures similar from day to day.
Severe Risk Today
Showers and thunderstorms will again be possible through the Ohio River and middle Mississippi Valley. Hail, high winds and isolated tornadoes will be possible in the ORANGE colored areas, but the tornado threat looks to be fairly low.
Hail and High Wind Threat
Hail and high wind looks to be the primary threat today with thunderstorms that develop along a stalled frontal boundary. The red shaded areas below will be the most likely locations to see the +1″ diameter hail and or winds in excess of 58mph.
That’s all for now, stay tuned for more interesting weather factoids and tidbits.
