Heat has been a big story in the Southwest over the past few days. Take a look at the high temperatures recorded yesterday:

Heat Comes to an End
A low pressure system working off of the Pacific will squash the heat in the southwest over the next few days. This is the 500mb weather map for early Saturday morning showing the low pressure system sitting over Las Vegas:

Take a look at the forecast high temperatures today vs. the high temperatures on Saturday. There is a significant difference in temps. It’ll be a welcome relief for some after such a sweltering start to June:

Severe Weather Threat Today
There are three areas of concern today, all shaded in orange. The biggest tornado threat will be across the High Plains and eastern Texas. Hail and high winds look to be the primary threat through the central Appalachians.
