Soccer City & Vuvuzelas

Hello and happy Wednesday everyone, hope you’re doing well. Sorry for the delay in posts lately, it has been very busy around the WeatherNation office lately. We’ve got a quick update for today.

World Cup Continues

Take a look at this NASA satellite image of Soccer City in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is so big that you can see it from nearly 23,000 miles above the Earth’s surface!

I wonder if you can here the Vuvuzelas from that high up?

Closer to Home:

Severe weather potential for Thursday appears to be quite high in the Upper Midwest, see the Day 2 Convective Outlook below. Hail, High Winds and Tornadoes will be possible in the locations shaded in orange. It appears the best chance of severe weather tomorrow will be in western Minnesota. TWISTEX, a tornado research team, will be in the area tomorrow in search of the illusive 2010 Minnesota tornado. Minnesota has yet to see a tornado this year, but averages nearly 9 in the month of June. To find out more about TWISTEX, see here: You may be more familiar with the TWITEX team by watching them on Discovery, see here:

That’s all for now, enjoy the rest of your Wednesday!
