And the Blizzard Continues…

The blizzard that left Denver with a record amount of snowfall yesterday has now moved into the central plains.  Folks in Nebraska and Iowa will be taking the brunt of the snow today with the bullseye not too far from Lincoln, NE.

The GFS model predicting over a foot for a few locations in Nebraska.

The National Weather Service has Winter Storm Warnings in effect for these areas.

From the National Weather Service, “A POTENT WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE SNOW ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS TODAY. AFTER HEAVY SNOWFALL OVERNIGHT…SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO BE HEAVY AT TIMES THIS MORNING BEFORE GRADUALLY TAPERING OFF AND ENDING THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. WHEN ALL SAID AND DONE…SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES WILL BE COMMON FOR MOST AREAS…WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE AS WELL. THE COMBINATION OF THE SNOW AND GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS WILL CAUSE AREAS OF REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND TRAVEL WILL LIKELY BE DIFFICULT OR NEAR IMPOSSIBLE AT TIMES.”

On the southern edge of this storm, the air is much warmer so precipitation has been coming in the form of rain.  Stronger storms from last night produced heavy rain and large hail.  Here are some of the images coming out Texas:
